Dr. Maria Ona, M.D.

Dr. Maria Ona was born and raised in the Philippines. She was inspired by her uncle, who was a rural physician, to become a doctor. She attended medical school at Far Eastern University-Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation, where she had the chance to take care of patients with infectious diseases like tetanus, diptheria, mumps, measles, tuberculosis, meningococcemia, among other diseases, which influenced her to be a strong advocate of Preventive Medicine. She went to Monmouth Medical Center, New Jersey for residency which gave her knowledge and skills of a confident Pediatrician. She is board certified in General Pediatrics and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. In 1998, Dr. Ona and her family moved to Franklin-Southampton Virginia where she is currently enjoying the simplicity and sincerity of being a rural pediatrician.
